Loving all that Northfield Township has to offer.
Washtenaw county has some of the highest property taxes in Michigan. The last thing I want is a tax increase. Our township must spend our tax money wisely. We cannot pretend we are Santa Claus and spend money flippantly.
While some may see my reluctance to fund new programs as a an indication that I don't support them, that isn't the case. It isn't my money. What I hear the most from people is taxes are too high. Well, you don’t get lower taxes by finding more ways to spend money.
Northfield Township police and fire departments are an important community asset. NT Public Safety Department has been a key part of events like the parade, the fireworks, pond hockey and even the running races.
Family-friendly community events define our township.
Our township has many different communities that span lakefront, to farms.
Roads are an essential infrastructure that deserve priority attention.
In my term we increased the number of grading and brining applications for the dirt roads. But our roads are sorely underfunded despite a new county millage and state gas tax increases. It is time for the county and state to use the money that we already pay to fix the roads.
